Stage 1 - Making the White-ware

Step 1

Pour the slip into the mould by a Master Craftsmen and left to stand for several minutes before pouring the excess slip out. Again the piece is left for several minutes before the mould is then taken apart and the piece is then presented to the sponger.

Step 2

Sponging the piece is to remove any rough edges and excess clay from the piece prior to firing (elaborated by Java).

 
Creating the piece.

Step 3

Firing the piece to a temperature of approximately 1200 degrees centigrade, this takes the piece to the "bisque" stage - known in the trade as biscuit.

Step 4

Vibro the piece in a rotating tub which contains wood and china pieces this makes the piece.

 
Dipping the piece to glaze it.

Step 5

The piece is then dipped into a china glaze, and then left to dry for 24 hours.

The finished glaze ware ready for the decorator.

Step 6

Once dried, the piece is then placed in a gloss kiln and fired to approximately 1080 degrees Centigrade.
